Flatpick Friday!!!
Ok...short and sweet.
"The Flowers of Edinburgh" is a traditional Scottish tune that I love!
Here it is, played by me, for the enjoyment of all. Hope you like it!
Happy flatpick friday,
Randy.

It never ceases to amaze me how these scottish reels can have a feeling of joy and bit of the sad at the same time. This is marvelous my friend. Love it.
Loved it ~ thank you!!!
I have a friend in Edinburgh - I'm gonna send her a link Mornin Glorie....Have a Great Weekend!
happy tune...have a good weekend...
I just love scottish music. Very lovely Randy. Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend, too!
Of course, I love it, too. Great job!
Yes, had to grab the red Peavy & "attempt" to play along. Got the chords figured out for the most part, but stumbled in a couple places. I can go to your Audio and find it anytime, though.
I finally wrote in more detail about the "Gospel Sing". Mike shared at least 4 songs, solo or with others. I was eager to hear him sing & that was a blessing. His voice is grand, solo or in ensemble.
Have a blessed weekend.
~~Blessings, prayers 'n cheers
@adventofreason - In celtic music, the employment of strategically placed minor chords in the chord sequence is what accounts for the "sad" sound. The return to the major chords which are most prevalent in the tune, gives it the "happy" feel. This transferred over into bluegrass music and it's traditional "high, lonesome sound." The quality of a bluegrass song is at times measured by how "lonesome" sounding the song is. Wow....that shoulda been a post.....it went on longer than I anticipated!
I think it would make a great post, to be honest. And yes, I did notice the minor chords thrown in there, and felt each one tug at my heart. It simply amazes me that they can be interwoven that way. I find that songs done that way, remind me of life itelf . . .highs and lows woven together.
@adventofreason - See there??!! By George, (w) I think she's got it!! Yes you nailed that one. Couldn't of said it better meself!!
Snappy little tune!
it's just not friday until it's FLATPICK FRIDAY! have a great weekend.

Nicely Done Randy, have a good week-end and pick some more for us to listen to.
Very nice! Thanks for sharing!
Awww. Lovely. I go to Edinburgh University and I love the traditional music, but the only place you ever really hear it is in really touristy versions on the streets and being blared out by celidh bands. This is delightful, thanks.
Great cheerful sound!
@guestbrief - Thanks for stopping by for a listen!
@slinky - Thanks, and I will get on it asap!
@sometimerainbow - Edinburgh University?? How cool is that? Glad you liked the tune!
